How long does it take to set up an LMS?
With a cloud LMS, the software itself is ready immediately — there's nothing to install. Your real timeline depends on content and people, not technology:
- Day 1 — account live, branding and logo added, first admin exploring.
- Week 1 — your first one or two courses built or imported (SCORM), a pilot group invited.
- Weeks 2–4 — remaining courses loaded, learners imported in bulk, roles and reminders configured, go-live to everyone.
Self-hosted systems add weeks for server setup, security, and testing before you even start on content.
The fastest path: launch with a single important course (say, onboarding or a compliance module), get people using it, then expand. Trying to load everything before launch is the most common reason rollouts stall.
